Inauguration Celebrations in Alabama
I'll try to post info on inaugurations events in Alabama, if you're not one of those planning to brave Washington, D.C., but still feel like celebrating.
The City of Birmingham is sponsoring Where History Meets Hope, a free inauguration event that honors the Magic City's civil rights past and celebrates the country's acceptance of diversity, according to a press release.
On Jan. 20, the Boutwell Auditorium, 1930 Eighth Ave. North, Birmingham 35203, will throw open its doors to the public at 8 a.m. so that people can witness the historic swearing in ceremony for President-elect Barack Obama.
Attendees will get a chance to see the event on an enormous monitor with crystal-clear audio, according tot he release. State-of-the-art production equipment has been secured for the public viewing. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.
